snack time

I'm going to do a variation on the single subject theme this month, it will definitely be of the aviation nature. Starting off with our much beloved song bird the magpie, they feed from insects and small mammals and reptiles on the ground. There is a huge supply of fat worms after all this rain!
Wonderful shot - also a bird to watch so they don't attack!

@christinav I've never had any fear of any magpie on any property I've lived on. the poor creatures trying to live in towns and cities end up having to defend themselves and their nests against humans who are cruel, totally different story for those poor birds

Very striking markings. I don’t see these around here but I have seen them while visiting the west coast of Canada.

Nice shot and so different to the bird we call "magpie" here in Europe. Our magpie is a corvid and definitely not a songbird :-)

So different! They are neat!

I love maggies. We have a few in the neighbourhood but our house doesn't seem to be part of their territory.
