I'd like to start by saying THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes and greetings yesterday. I had a lovely day, which was made even better by reading all your emails.
Today's shot is kind of boring but I spent two hours cloning out a telephone pole, numerous power lines and a house that I thought it warranted a spot in my project. The swim club asked me to take the "group shot" after we were unable to get the professional we usually get. It was my first time with such a large number of hyper children in a professional type setting. I know the composition needs some work. I wish I'd noticed the different heights at the back and rearranged a few people but it was rather chaotic at the time and their patience (and mine) was wearing thin.
Herding cats! I think you did extremely well if you were trying to organise the kids AND take the shot. A professional would have assistants for that. I think the variation of heights at the back adds interest and makes it less static.
I think you did a great job!!! I agree with the above posters, it's especially good for the challenging lighting! Why do they always take these kind of team shots in full sun?
But it´s a great group potrait, it´s so annoying when one does not notice all these little details until you see it on sceen. Two hours, wow that´s a lot effort put in here, I´m sure they appreciate it. Just out of curiosity, where was the telephone pole?
@susale@sianipops The telephone pole was on the far left side above the coach's head. He's the man standing at the end with the dark hair. The lines (about four layers) went the entire width and there was part of a white house on the far right side. I also had to darker half the kids that were too bright and ,itch ten the other half who were in the sun.
@m9f9l I know! The timing wasn't great but it worked best with the swim schedule. The location choice was mine but there really wasn't any other options as we were right beside a parking lot and the back of the pool. I saw the lines but they seemed to blend better in real life but on the screen the screamed at me!
OMG! I was a nervous wreck when I was taking group photo of my son soccer team of 8 kids, let alone 60+ and probably equal amount of parents behind your back. YOu did awesome job.
I think you did great! I used to do soccer team photos, hockey team photos and graduation class photos...I know how tough it can be!! And I must say, I don't miss doing any of it! Hahaha.
SO impressed. CERTAINLY worth posting. hope they appreciated you for this! fabulous job with so, so many. what a fantastic group of kids. and so glad you had a wonderful birthday too kim!
Gracious I think you must have had a magic wand plus the patience of a saint to get them all so well posed, looking at the camera and keeping still! Great shot I bet the club is delighted
