Heard from Nikon today.... $650 to fix my camera plus another 2-3 weeks before I get it back!! I dropped it off December 30th because the mirror wasn't closing fast enough and the majority of my images were half black. The problem started about 6 weeks before and went from 1/10 shots to 8/10 shots. I couldn't take it any longer. I'm going to do some research tonight on the D750 and D810. I might just trade it when it finally returns. I've had it for 4 years and taken a LOT of photos. I miss it!! So... I continue with Waikiki photos for now.
@kwind so I guess that means it's getting a new shutter. I upgraded to the D750 when it was released. No complains or regrets choosing it. I still enjoy my D5100 too because I get the extra reach and it's smaller and lighter. If I didn't have so much invested in lens I would really like to look at the Sony because of it's size and weight.
Oh dear! That's frustrating to have to replace your camera, but kind of exciting. I have the D610 and am happy with it. Full frame, but not as big as the 810.
It's always the problem today. It costs so much to fix something that you almost end up being better off buying a new one. Frustrating. This is a lovely image. :-)
Another brilliant photo. Good luck with the camera -- you are making me nervous -- mine is just shy of 30k clicks, having lived a fairly hard life -- hasn't missed a beat yet.
bummer about your camera. I have the 810, too and had to send it off for repair once. Tough to be apart from them, isn't it? Images of Waikiki will do! I like your perspective and the light here.
@alophoto It will be fixed but I'm thinking I might just trade it in and get a new one. I started researching last night and now I'm even more confused.
This just says summer! Great colour.
Shame about your camera. I like the D810, I've only had it a few months but really pleased with it, it's fast and it focuses well in low light. Good luck with your research!
Beautiful capture!! You may consider the D500 if you're interested in a cropped sensor (I have a D4, D800 and D500. My favorite for most pics is the D500)
This composition is just fantastic. Love the colors too. So sorry to hear about your camera - my shutter broke a while back and I felt like I lost a limb. I hope it returns sooner than expected!
Word is that there will be a D810 replacement this year -- so marked down D810, or a D850 for probably more money? http://www.dslrbodies.com/newsviews/2017-glass-filling-or-empty/
p.s. your D90 is pretty kick ass :)
