My husband and I did the Ripple Rock Trail today. It was 8.6 km return with LOTS of up hills!! The view at the end is spectacular. I set the camera on the rock and used the self timer mode to get us.
The water behind us is VERY famous. In 1958 the largest non nuclear explosion happened to remove some dangerous rocks that were killing boaters. This area is called Seymour Narrows and the tide makes huge tidal whirl pools in the area. Cruise and container ships wait on either side until the tide is appropriate before crossing.
Wow! Such interesting history and you and hubby look great. I just did some wonderful hiking in Asheville NC area with waterfalls. Some very steep climbs, but like you, worth it --totally!
Congrats on the climb, and a great shot of you both. Thanks for including the link, it gave your narrative feeling and loved seeing what at the time was cutting edge technology, makes you wander what we have going forward in the future!
@skipt07 Those poles are on neighbouring Quadra Island. There are power lines that run between Vancouver Island across. You can just make out some cirlces in the sky. Those are markers on the wires so planes don't fly into them.
@kwind - Okay. When I saw that they were painted red and white I knew they had to be tall, and since there are four I thought they might be antennas for a TV station. I saw the specks in the sky and thought they were either birds or dust on your sensor. Thanks for the explanation! All your hiking has you both looking buff! 😉
