These are my husband's almost 49 year old hands! He cut the tip off his right index finger when we were in grade 12 on a hiking trip on the West Coast Trail. He's a carpenter that works outside in extreme weather so they have taken a lot of abuse over the years. His hands are strong and always so warm. After 31 years together, we still hold hands whenever we can! It occurred to me the other day to get a photo of them.
how lovely. we are also together for over 30 years and hold hands whenever we can! seems like a good thing to me. for me, your image conveys the depth of experience these hands have. also that they can work hard, and also be tender
Carpenters were necessary to my job security for 20 years as I worked at a lumber yard. And in cold climates it is not a job for the faint at heart. Here because of the snow they try to plan the indoor stuff for winter and most plow on the side. But they take boards and create houses, cabinetry, furniture, and many other structures. A bit of them to remain many years later.
Lovely idea and capture. I have the tip of my thumb missing, too (smaller bit than your husband's) and it was caused while I was sawing wood with my woodworking machine. But I am not a carpenter, it is my hobby.
What lovely tidy hands they are too! Hands are a great illustration of someone. Office workers with smooth soft hands & then the manual workers hands like your husbands & all the men in my immediate family. I have always been very o,eased that the farmers in our family keep their hands well scrubbed & with neat nails like your husband. Wonderful that you know & remember these early incidents in his life, my daughter & her husband who are around the same age as you also went to primary school together!
Great workers hands.. My Bro-in-law only has half a thumb and he use to tell small family members this is what happens when you suck your thumb ... that usually made them stop...
Photos of hands, especially working, are some of my favorite photos. He does have strong hands and I hope you get to keep holding them for many years to come.
A wonderful capture and sweet story. There’s a hand surgeon here who casts famous people’s hands in bronze, they are remarkable. I bet none could have a better story than your husband’s hands. Fav over and over again.
What a lovely shot and story! May you hold those hands for a long time yet! It's always interesting to know how people have lost bits of fingers. My grandad had a missing thumb and forefinger. Two separate farming accidents - a circular saw and a thrashing machine. EEuw!
Hands really do tell a story- and there's a great one here. Jeff and I still hold hands too- I love the feel of his hands holding mine. I'm not missing any tips, but my fingers are getting more crooked as the years go by thanks to arthritis. And still he loves me just the same. Great shot!
