But Carcassonne might be the place for you - direct flights from Dublin, and a firework display over La Cité that is expected to attract 700,000 people this evening. If you like things on a smaller scale, Castelnaudary nearby has a good fireworks display on the 13th, and since it is home to the Foreign Legion, has a dramatic military parade as well.
