@leggzy You almost got it. There used to be a spiral staircase around that central pole, taken down when the light was electrified and manning became unnecessary.
@laroque ah, yes....that makes perfect sense. I did wonder about the circle around the pole at the top, I thought it looked a bit like the markings of spiral steps 😉
