This was parked outside the gate of our local winery, Les Vignerons des Albères. Not sure if it was coming or going, but I suspect the former, as I was held up earlier by one of the grape-picking machines on the road, so the wine harvest must be starting. The driver must have been sleeping off a heavy lunch, because he emerged a few seconds after I took this shot, rubbing his eyes and no doubt wondering why somebody was pointing a telephoto lens at him. Well, it's not a sight you see often, even in this part of France. The barrels were about 3m x 3m, so about 20,000 litres. Not big really - Caves Byrhh at Thuir has an oak vat for over one million litres.
