The French road traffic information service is called 'Bison Futé', which means 'crafty buffalo', a reference I suppose to the buffalo stampede of holidaymakers south towards the Mediterranean beaches in July, then back north in August. Today was a black alert for the A9 autoroute, the main road along the Mediterranean coast. This was the northbound side just after the toll at the Spanish frontier. I was expecting a big traffic jam but this doesn't look too bad. Notice there are no trucks. Trucks/HGV's/lorries are banned (in daylight hours) from French autoroutes on all Sundays, all public holidays and Saturdays in the vacation season.
