Les parents Aupetit by laroque

Les parents Aupetit

I went to a garage sale last weekend. I was looking for old postcards and the stallholder offered me the whole box for two euros. There were other documents in the box, including an envelope marked "Parents Aupetit", and it contained these photos. Nothing else to identify them. Somebody else threw these out, so I don't know why I should be reluctant to throw them in the bin, but I am. Maybe this is the last record of two peoples' lives. I thought I would at least send them out into cyberspace before doing so.
Lovely old photos. Maybe it's because we're photographers that we find them more precious. I wouldn't be able to throw them away either.

Oh the forgotten stories. Such a bittersweet image.

Lovely and a place in social history. (I am sorry to say that I threw out two photo albums my father gave me. I salvaged one photo with the help of my dear Auntie Betty who recognised it as being her family and remembered it being taken - she was six - but had never seen it. The rest were anonymous.)

The fact they are not identified makes it better, we can give them lives they never had. I'm calling them Claude et Sabine.
