Most supermarkets hereabouts are closed on Sundays. A few years ago the management of Intermarché proposed Sunday opening to their staff's union, but the union refused. Because they liked the idea, and the money being offered, the staff were upset and, this being France, went on strike. On strike against their own union! Things were resolved and now all the local Intermarchés are open all day in the tourist season, and Sunday mornings the rest of the year.
