The government are talking about a third confinement, but haven't yet decided whether it will be as strict as it was in March, or less so, as in November. In both we were only allowed to exercise within 1 km of home. For us that means that the mountains are accesible (for a lot more than 1 km!) but the beaches are out-of-bounds. So yesterday we took advantage of the good weather (17 deg.C !!) and drove an hour North. Lots of people had the same idea. I talked to people from Carcassonne and Béziers who had traveled similar distances. It seemed more people than usual wanted to stop and talk, perhaps a last chance for sociability for a while.
These are the cliffs at Leucate, looking South. The mountains on the horizon are the Albères, the Eastern end of the Pyrenees as they dip into the Mediterranean. I live there, beyond is Spain.
