Was going through some boxes in my office closet and came across a tattered shoebox full of old letters. So funny to read through some of them, because these were all from when I was a teenager. Interesting to read about what was going on in my life at that point in time.
As for the one on top, I would have been fifteen years old at the time, and the envelope contains a series of "love letters" from an older boy. Very cute, he even wrote a few poems.
@mittens oh no Marilyn I'm sorry to hear that! a long while ago I had thought about throwing them away, especially the love letters-thinking i should because I'm married. But then i realized that these are filled with cute memories and i should hang on to them. but at least you can now hang on to letters you get from now on!
@laurentye That's what happened to me. They were innocent love letters from high school and since I am married, I didn't think I should keep them but now I wish I still had them as a remembrance. Oh well.
Awesome photo! Every few years I go through my memory boxes and read some of my old letters and notes. I probably have them memorized by now, but it is so fun getting caught up in moments of the past.
Sweet. I kept all mine too....but I had HUGE BOX's just full of them. They took up SO much space!! So one day I spent the whole day going through alot of them and keeping only some and then I burnt the rest! Lol. I may regret it later, I'm not sure. I kept enuf tho to keep the memories alive :) They were SOOOO funny to read!.....and some almost embarrassing too! Lol. Ohhhh to be a young teenager again hey?! Lol. Great shot :)
It sounds like a fantastic find! I have a box of old cards from birthdays and christmas - I love to look through them from time to time too :) Your pic really captures the reminiscence :)
thank you guys for the kind comments on this. it was really fun to go through this box and i also enjoyed reading about some of your experiences with similar boxes/letters you have kept :)
awwwww! i have a box of old notes/letters too! i could never bring myself to throw them out! and i'll tell you why! my sister passed away when she was 15 (i was 6) ... and one on my FAVORITE keepsakes of hers is all her old diaries and notes from her school friends! don't ever throw them away! cuz even if they're not precious to you anymore, they could become a great keepsake for someone else in the future!!! :)
p.s. @kdimagery you better not have burnt mine biotch! lol
