One day I plan to take a ride on this boat take floats in the canal in the spring and summer. I got it's picture last year when it was just sitting in the dry canal. You would have never thought it would float.

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal (C & O Canal) is a national historic park that has an interesting history dating back to the 18th century. It runs 184.5 miles along the north bank of the Potomac River, starting in Georgetown and ending in Cumberland, Maryland. I am in Potomac, Md. here and yes that is a lock. As you walk some are opened and some closed. I think I was standing on a closed lock here to get this picture.
