I still remember in the 60's my father pointing out a "peewit" in a field and said to me find out as much information about it as I could knowing I would struggle to find it under that name. Of course information had to come from books but the most difficult thing for me was that no book listed such a bird. All was well after noticing the remarkable likeness of a peewit to a lapwing!
