The koru (Māori for "bight" or "loop") is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. This is not a silver fern but a different fern. However as it is so small - size of the tip of a pen, it was elusive in being captured in focus! After about 50 shots, I got to know my camera a bit better!
Perfect focus & the first time I have noticed this fern actually growing. I have a set of these Maori symbols as green cocktail stirrers, I have been told the name of each symbol but forgotten!
Beautifully done, Maggiemae! The ferns look so fragile and have great texture. Love the greens and the lighting. Yes, we really do get intimate with our cameras sometimes. And then there are times when I'd love to throw it on the ground!!
Beautiful shot, Maggiemae! I can appreciate what you went through with your camera. There are days when I can zoom on something so small and days when I cannot. I really think it's the light.
You're a smarter woman than I am, Maggiemae. I do not understand the manual ...reading it gives me a migraine. My daughter bought me a book just for my camera. It's way above my head most of the time too. Fortunately I can go to the camera store and the owner quickly points out the problem in one sentence. He's "pricelsss!"
What a beautiful shot, Maggiemae. Love the detail and so much fun learning about ferns on this site. I had no idea that they unfurl. Coolest thing I have ever seen.
