Thursday is my day at the SPCA and I took advantage of some of the tiny kittens that were being looked after by another volunteer. They had to have a sponge bath as they are so small they haven't learnt to wash themselves yet. It will be a while before they can be adopted as they are too young for vaccinations.
@maggiemae I wish my allergy medication worked better with cats. When I am around cats, I quickly get to the point that I can't breathe. Sometimes, I break out in hives. I have to really limit my exposure to cats.
Oh, so cute, Maggie. That just melts my heart. I love my cat so much, and we got her from the local Animal Rescue League. So a cat mystery for you: every single morning we find one of our son's socks in the hallway outside our bedroom. Every night she goes downstairs to our son's room and drags one (or occasionally more) sock upstairs. Why would a cat do that?
@lauriehiggins The answer is she loves his smell! Cats do a lot of smelling and love to constantly smell the person they love. Not normal behaviour but understandable.
Thank you for that explanation about our kitty's unusual behavior! I've always had a cat in my adult life (this is our fourth), and this one truly is the most loving of her people family and her pet sibling the dog. She actually grooms all of us, the dog included, and she hugs.
What an adorable kitten, Maggiemae. I love this photo and am a huge cat lover. I am amazed that you have not said that you have brought some of the animals home. It would be so hard not to.
@darsphotos at this young stage they can only have foster homes, Darlene, then back to the Adoption Centre. But there are some delightful ginger kittens I would jump on to adopt but we have a loving abyssinian cat of 12 years who would be terrified of another cat - big puss!
This takes me back to November 1986. We moved house and our dog dug her way out of the back yard, fretting in an unfamiliar yard. We looked for her at the RSPCA and lost dogs' home for weeks. On what was probably our last visit to the lost dogs' home, we were walking out as a woman carrying a tiny pure black kitten was walking in. We never found our dog but did have Smudge for the next 17 years.
@sheliwithani that is so sad you never got your dog back and surprising too! i am glad that Smudge was your love for that long! They are always cute when they are small!
too sweet... well done you maggiemae! we have 5 - 1 from our vet friend (part of a kitty sterlize, clean up) in one of the nearby towns, one from my husbands workshop, and 3 rescued from the bush ..
@maggiemae no litter trays ... garden with lots of trees.. well quite a few good for climbing, scratching and sharpening claws and many places to hide away and or snooze in dappled sunlight or shade, indoors and outside, on patio etc.,
