These lovely rich red berries dot our rowan trees with colour. We have three huge rowans outside our property that don't belong to us, of course and they are a picture at the moment. The trouble comes when they fall off all over the lawn and get on your shoes which you then trek unknowlingly inside!
I've found a beautiful rendition of The Rowan Tree on Utube; http://youtu.be/YqEgOaI_z1A
The Rowan Tree in Scotland is used as a symbol for home and comfort!
Beautiful shot. Great red! There are some plants, trees and shrubs that I love to look at, but would not like to have in my yard. This sounds like one of these plants.
@catwoman2 Maybe a luscious colour, Mary but sually too astringent to be palatable when raw. Can be used for various alcoholic beverages too which I didn't know!
Gorgeous Maggiemae ...they are very vibrant - know what you mean about squished berries our lilly pillies have berries at the moment and do the same thing ...and they stain!!
Rowan berries......they remind me of a section in C S Lewis's book 'A grief observed'..... they are exquisitely beautiful and you have done them justice here Maggie.
@ososki I tried with bright early morning sun plus shadow, Bill! Thanks for noticing. The berries look exactly the same as pyracathus but this is a Rowan Tree!
