Salmon by maggiemae

Salmon

Down the main highway from North to South, various areas have huge sculptures to indicate their specialty. Here it is fishing - one of the nearby rivers is good for salmon fishing. The place is called Rakaia and this fish leaps into the sky after its fly!

Three good things;
1. I love smoked salmon.
2. Almost home here - the car knows it's way now!
3. One time we listen to the radio is when we are travelling in the car and I wonder why we don't more often.
What a delightful way to advertise the speciality of the area Super capture Maggiemae -

Ps I am the same, in the car I listen all the time to the radio but not in the house as much....I sometimes have to sit in the car in the garage to hear the end of something!

hahaha ! Are you trying to make us believe that ? Love it !

@cocobella I don't know what it's made of, Corinne, but it's not fish flesh!

I just love this. Nicely captured (the photograph and the fly!)

And I thought this was a uniquely Australian habit - setting up large sculptures of this sort! This one looks great though! On the other side of the lake from us the recent bushfires destroyed a garage/petrol station which had a big prawn - the prawn survived!/escaped the fire! I'll have to go and photograph it one day!

What an interesting sculpture. I love smoked salmon too. Oh I have just remembered when I was on my fab journey around NZ we stopped in a small town on the South island - can't remember the name - and the local speciality was whitebate. We stopped in a lovely cafe and I had freshly caught whitebate in an omelette in a large bread roll. It was mouth watering!! It was their speciality!! I feel hungry now!! LOL!!

1. sometimes I find raw salmon a little soapy, but I have never met a smoked salmon I didn't like.
2. I do like a good landmark that signals that moment you are home.
3. I have my iPod connected to my car stereo.
