This day started at the top of the South Island where we were staying at the Bay and ended up in a Christchurch Pub where we enjoyed a fabulous and high quality dinner. This was the pub part of the hotel and was originally called the Den of the Five Foxes as there were foxes in different mirrors above the seating. Then the silly owners decided just to call it the "Den Bar"!
Three good things:
1. We were lucky to get a room in Christchurch as the "No Vacancy" sign was on all the hotels and motels!
2. After so much going awry on the trip - restaurants were either far too expensive or shut, we stopped at a country village for an ice-cream instead of lunch.
3. I kept singing, "Hey ho, said Roly"!
I love this one -- partly because foxes are one of my favorite animals and partly because I love the light you caught in the mirror. Better not enjoy too many pints with that fox watching you!
Glad the hotels & bars are doing well in Christchurch...they need a ll the trade they can get...confidence sounds as though it is being restored. I like Mr Fox & they should make the most of the name I agree.
The fox in this mirror is beautiful, and I love the way you've caught bits of some of the other mirrors reflected in this none. The whole place looks much more beautiful than its current name; I agree that the old name was much more flavourful and evocative. The picture, though not the new name, is a fav for me!
I think ice cream for lunch sounds like a great alternative to an expensive lunch ; )
