India perhaps? by maggiemae

India perhaps?

This is a sweet little tray that I got at a bargain place - so long ago that I can’t remember where! It is extremely light, maybe made out of very light material but seems to be painted on the topside and varnished over. I had two but chucked one as in such bad condition. Maybe I should take it to “Antiques Road Show?

It takes a photograph to realise how nice some of our objects round the house are!!! It was rather a challenge as it is very shiny and there were always reflections. Had to take it in the semi dark, up the ISO and long exposure.

Three good things;
1. Contact with favourite 365 people
2. Well, all of my 365 friends are treasured!
3. Have realised I don’t have dementia - I can find my way home!
I love the elegance of this -- and the dark tones work so well in the photograph.

Well captured. I would not have known it was a tray though unless I had read the description.

Is it made of paper mâché do you think maggiemae? I have seen something similar....not that lovely exotic design but I know PM is very light when it's finished & can be painted up beautifully.
Up having my painkillers so just checking out 365. My word this keyhole surgery is a lot worse than I thought....did even talk of going to our usual cinema....no way!

Oh I do like this

@happypat Keyhole might be tiny but it is still an invasion of the body! I hope you can take it easy and just take photos of the window, or the cushion,.. or your toes!

Antiques Road Show- you never know. Saw an episode where a person brought in the ugliest tribal mask you could possible imagine and the thing turned out to be worth 325,000 US dollars! But Jeff always says things are only worth something if you're willing to sell them. So I guess all my treasures are safe as I'm more interested in passing them on to the next generation. Pretty tray.

Thanks Ann @olivetreeann. This has been sitting on a chest for years and because I was going to use it for a photograph, I cleaned it up and hey presto, it became rather beautiful!

Wow, this came out great, Maggiemae. Love the detail and the darkness to your photo only accenting the colors. FAV

A fascinating object, and you have got the lighting working well to show it in warm tones. The style and bamboo suggests some far east influence.
