This statue will be standing for a long time into the future commemorating the First World War. It was unveiled in 1926. The flowers are beautifully planted to bring this small area in Oamaru to the public's attention.
Three good things;
1. Having a diary to remember even 20 years ago.
2. Mashed potato with butter - not had in Europe and USA.
3. Team Lawn came in and made ours like a green carpet!
I must check my NZ pictures to see if I took one of this. We loved Oamaru and enjoyed a walk around the gardens as well as watching the penguins come in
I missed this yesterday....didn't scroll back far enough! Love to see your town. Like this .......you can just imagine walking down here. A very impressive war memorial & so beautifully kept. Great colours even down to the red top on the beacon.
I would have done you some mashed potato if I had known you were pining Maggiemae!! Fave,
