There seemed to be mist floating on the sand at times during the time we were there picnicking. About 1.6km of beautiful beach and only about 6 groups enjoying it - not like other places round NZ or the world!
Three good things;
1 The bacon and egg pie I'd made was delicious.
2. We saw several Hector Dolphins frolicking about in the waves but only got a shot of a black fin.
3. An 18.5km ride home on Ruby alongside endless beaches. It took 55mins.
How lovely that you are able to fide Ruby to the beach....does John go pillion? Just joking! Your group really show up against that misty sea.....works well where they are placed. I have only ever seen one busy beach & that was at The Mount, oh & at Raglan.....every other one has been so quiet!
@happypat I didn't ride to the beach - the bike was in the back of the truck folded up. Just unfolded it to ride home. Auckland beaches are all full of people in the summer and so are some South Island beaches!
@tonydebont We wouldn't have come out here if there was any rain in the forecast, Tony! But I agree - not totally empty on a good day or there may be something wrong with the beach but I know this beach is a safe one for children.
WOnderful capture...lovely family outing and that misty (steam?) floating around them creates a wonderful atmosphere. Lovely light and a picnic on the beach sound marvelous!
Love the "ambiance" with that mist !
