This cafe has new ownership and the barista has other talents than serving coffee. He painted this on the long concrete wall behind the tables. It is all iconic Oamaru buildings including penguins!
Three good things:
1. The coffee was one of the best I've tasted!
2. Some light rain to keep our lawn green.
3. I was asked by the cafe if they could use this photo for their own web address!
have you ever watched Mary Poppins well this reminded me of the scene in silhouette of the chimney sweeps dancing on the roofs. Its great and glad they will use your work on their web site. Fav
Well maggienae that is fame indeed....your first 'commission ' hope you said yes! It looks very modern & trendy...one thing I love in NZ is the cafe culture you have.....love the am should do well if the coffee is great!
@happypat Well I got the credits but nothing else - but don't want any money for my shots - that would be awful - you would have to be really dedicated for good shots and I'm not.
@judithg In a way, Judith! In the 1880's this was a banking town where the gold miners came to bank or spend their money. Sailing ships came right into the harbour at this time!
it is a rather engaging piece of art and you did very well capturing it, colour tones and all. and congratulations for your first 'commission'. mighty proud of you!
@summerfield Well it wasn't really a commission - I just took the photo for 365 then showed it to them and they asked if they could use it for their cover photo!
What a great shot of this painting inside this coffee shop. Someone did an awesome job with the red and silhouettes. How nice that you were asked about using this on their website. Congrats. FAV
Great shot, Maggie. That's so cool they asked if they could use your photo! You must be ecstatic! I know I would be. Be proud. You take wonderful pictures. It's not every day you penguins on the wall.
@prttblues Our Little Blues are inclined to walk in a shop's doors in Oamaru! We have a taxi designated to pick them up and take them to their proper harbour home not far away!
