The “Relay for Life” was on and everybody was poised to take part! 24 hours of walking and costumes and music were encouraged. This was a wonderful family that had taken the time and trouble to get totally done up! I wonder who they are!
Three good things:
1. I saw some people I knew who were in the “Cancer Survival” group walking out in front. Not that that is good, other than that they have survived!
2. I survived a kitchen fire episode - turned the stove on using olive oil but with the lid on. When I took the lid off, smoke ballooned out then flames! My feeble blowing didn’t make a difference! Put the pot down on the nearest surface which was a draining blanket. Still a problem, flapped a pure Irish Linen dish towel on the top and it went out! Still smoking, I went outside (the interior of our home was smoking and indusive to a high asthma attack)!. I put the pot down on the grass but I’m afraid the bottom of this pot is out of action!
2. Needless to say, our evening meal was a failure. Domino’s pizza and ‘online’ was a relief! They are so good!
A big fave for this wonderful family.....the colours are brilliant & made more striking because of the black behind them. Super catch maggiemae!
As for the pan you should just have put the lid back on & starved it of air! Bet the house smelt awful....thank goodness for take away!
@happypat You are quite right, Pat - should have put the lid back on! I didn't even yell, "Fire Fire!" John was in the other room talking to his elderly sister on the phone and I didn't want a hoo ha!
Love the eye catching colours Maggiemae - what a great effort they put in. Great capture. So glad the fire didn't catch - bet the smell is awful and hard to get rid of. (Can you tell I've had experience of this??)
Great shot with great colors. I am glad you were able to get the fire out. I once had a frying pan fire. I did all of the wrong things, including telling the fire department the wrong address!
Ahh yes careful, My grandmother did the same and burnt out the wall behind the stove ! Smart thinking to smother this type of fire!! Hope everything is okay...ps I can not show my wife this as hshe is bothered by Clowns...lol but for a great cause!!!
What a colourful family, and how nice that they make the effort to get dressed up together. Sounds like a scary kitchen incident, not to be repeated I'm sure!!
This is a great shot with so much color. How fun that they went all out like this. So glad you are ok though too bad about your dinner. Pizza works. FAV
Wonderful colorful candid. Does everyone who signs up do so with the intent of walking for 24 hours? Or is it a 24-hour event filled with multiple activities? Sorry about your kitchen fiasco, but glad no-one got hurt and there was no damage (except to your dinner).
@skstein Teams are signed up and take turns in walking for the whole 24 hours. If there is a lot in a team, you might only have to walk for 2 hours. There are activities going on elsewhere for children and supporters! Thanks Sandy!
