Boat Harbour by maggiemae

Boat Harbour

The Lakes have a number of very sheltered boat harbours where you can climb on your boat, moor it, retrieve it. The waters are like fingers into the land and at the moment are reflecting autumn colouring from the many trees planted around!

Three good thing:
1. A relaxed morning coffee at a nearby cafe where people gathered with their friends and dogs!
2. A lovely bike ride down to this harbour and observed people sitting outside their caravans and tents enjoying the warm weather. Not at all crowded.
3. The wines of the Waitaki Valley are beautiful - reds (shiraz) and whites (reisling).
beautifully composed - I would love to be there

A lovely composed shot. so nice to see the waters open and frozen over like where we are, but then you have Fall and we're still waiting for Spring. we again had a little snow on the cars this morning when looking out the window.

You Are excelling yourself with your photos lately maggiemae........I love the photos of your wonderful countryside, so colourful with the autumn shades but still beautufully warm. My boys are both wanting rain badly but to me it looks like heaven! As a point of interest, when you are riding your bike does John walk behind you or you go off on your own & John do his own thing for a while?

@happypat Thank you for your nice comment, Pat! I go off on my own when biking unless its like a long trek and then he waits for about 20 mins, catches up with me to check all is OK then buzzes off home! Its always nice to know there is support handy - gives me confidence!

@redy4et It does - if you have a boat, Elizabeth! It made us want to get one!

@bruni Hard to imagine when you are looking at scenes like this one, Bruni!

Gorgeous and a fav, but I don't like the idea of such beauty being disrupted by motorboats. Kayaks or canoes would be ok.
April 6th, 2015
@tristansmum Actually, Stephanie - they were so quiet here you could hardly hear the motor! The only noise you would get from out in the lake itself would be those wretched jet skis. Not at this time of the year, though!

Lovely capture. Having enjoyed some marvellous narrow boat holidays here in the UK, I'm always drawn to this kind of view.

Wow, what a beautiful photo, Maggiemae. Looks like such a relaxing place to spend time. I love the colors and reflections. My computer is down possibly for good so will use my sons laptop and get a monitor to use with it. My computer is only 5 years old. A nice MAC desktop. Expensive to replace but so lucky to have my son to help. This has held me back and now stopped me from posting. Will pop in and comment and hopefully be set up this week. FAV for your beautiful photo.
