Today was a Field Day on the farm of the couple who won the Winter Crop Competition when I was inveigled into being the photographer without being prepared! I was this time and used several settings to get a photo which I entitled, “Knee deep in Fodder Beet” Will post this too. This shot is looking west from their farm and the lime green fields with the high mountains at the back took my eye. These fields must have been just cropped.
Three good things;
1. Stuck my camera on a very available fence post for this shot.
2. Good hot dog and chips from the Lions’ catering caravan.
3. Wonderful Skype from son in Vancouver - where to live… where to bring up children…in Canada. He’s over 40 but never settled down!
Brian & Lesley were looking forward to the Field days when the got back.....I hope they have time to go ....both kids coming down your way & new staff to welcome in. Lovely yellows greens & a beautiful rich golden back drop.
@happypat They are high mountains here - on the other side of the Waitaki River - not far from where Will will be working! Only a touch of snow on them so far.. Mt Cook is just a bit further up!
@maggiemae Alex set off for her first job today......she has a job at the place she milked at when at uni in Lincoln. She is itching to get back there even though it's before the 1st June he has work for her. William starts on the usual day so will be going down next weekend. The fire officer from the nearest town rang him the other day so that was nice.
@maggiemae Ha ha yes I will....just coming light here! Three breakfasts to do at 8.30am. If I wake up I find it hard to get back to sleep.....just had a cup of tea & off upstairs again now. X
Better on black! Wonderful, rich colors and contours of the mountains. I really like the yellow/green against the burnt colors of the foliage behind the fields. Lots of complexity and beauty here... nice job!
@tristansmum Thanks Stephanie for your nice comment! Those are poplars and even look as if they still have leaves on! There are a lot of poplars around here.
