Mt Cook did its worst and we finally unstuck Sadie, our poor Mercedes from its snow-clad road. The snow ploughs had been through early before the sun rose above these very high mountain peaks. The great mountain had showed itself in blue sky but not expected. Here on a terrace we sat underneath a dripping roof and looked out on this scene. Mt Cook is the big peak in the background!
Three good things:
1. We have a stalwart family who are not fazed by difficulties! In this photo is Joy, our daughter (aged nearly 60) and her husband who is a Merchant Navy Captain. Plus John.
2. The sun shone down and we actually got hot.
3. I just loved what I have learnt in photography in order to get some tremendous mountain shots!
What a fun shot! I love the processing- it's perfectly wintery and yet the sun burst reminds me of some skiing films I saw when I was young. My uncle owned a ski shop (great business for an avid skier). They'd show these pictures of places like Tahoe where there was snow in the summer and you could ski but it was still warm with the sun beating down. So people would be skiing in their bikinis! Of course this shot looks much too wintery for skiing in your bathing suit, but the sun reminds me of those movies!
What a beautiful scene, and amazing processing!! Love everything about it.....how it looks so cold, but sun drenched all at the same time, the three figures placed so perfectly in front of the mountains....great job.....FAV!!
