Run Down

I do appreciate all the comments that my friends on 365 are so good at to make me feel they enjoy my photos!

After a hectic week with family, one who can’t eat egg or gluten and thats a challenge at all times but she’s worth it, we are now home. I can now indulge in my own pleasure at seeing life as it happens in the world of 365 once again.

Three good things;
1.This picture was in a tiny village where we stopped for fuel - a rural and unmanned pump which is very modern compared to this poor home!
2. Home after 6 days away and lots of adventures, gorgeously comfortable beds, delicious food - duck confit for one choice!
3. Able to visit an SIL who is 89 soon, an independent lady, living by herself but inclined not to look after herself. She has cellulitis and really doesn’t know how serious this can be! Fixed her ceiling light, told her she was doing fine and made sure she had her heating up far enough! It was only on 17degC.
Thought this could be the state of your house after you have been away for a bit......only joking but my friend has been to China for five weeks & the person she had to mow her lawn never turned up....her garden was like a jungle! Nice to travel but nicer to come home!

Cool photo. Always nice to come home after a trip away, no matter how good it was and yours was quite an adventure. Your sister-in-law sounds like a great lady to still be living independently at 89.

@happypat ha ha, Pat! Some TLC needed for this tiny cottage! We thought the same - warm fire, tv, eat what you like etc!

@nickspicsnz She is, Nick - been on her own since her husband left her 30 years ago! She's lost her sense of smell and taste but importantly has a smoke alarm in her kitchen now!

Awesome shot

Love your processing.

Wouldn't like to spend a night in this cottage, but I like the bull-nosed verandah roof and it could be a good do up for someone who wanted to get away from it all. Very nice shot.

Nice to be home, I think.

Neat shot, processing

looks to be full of creepy crawlies..
June 14th, 2015
@chard Tons of spiders, Richard but no snakes!
June 14th, 2015
nice presentation, the lighting highlights its condition

Such a great shot has that time worn look to it

It sounds like a fun and busy time. This poor place has seen better times for sure. It must be nice to be home after all the travelling though!

@kiwichick I've got more time to view photos, Lesley but besides that I don't know what to do with myself! Can't be bothered doing things - life has been rather exciting!

Glad you had a good time away :0 but there is nothing better than a cup of tea from home tapwater and sleeping in your own bed :)

What a character full run down place !

@pixiemac You are right, Sarah! But who could live in this place in this time and age!
June 14th, 2015
That is so very kind of you to care for this old lady. Living on your own by oneself is very difficult, indeed. Wherever you go it's home that you want to return to. Beautiful shot full of mystery.

@sangwann I hope you didn't think my SIL lived in this place, Dione! This place has nothing but spiders and mice!
June 14th, 2015
Nice find i'm always drawn to abandoned buildings.
June 14th, 2015
Once upon a time....
June 14th, 2015
Would be interesting to know the story as to who lived her and why it was abandoned. Bet it would tell many a tale if it could talk.

So glad to know this was not the condition of your home when you returned! I understand about the gluten-free, special diet thing as both d-I-l s have dietary issues! I should complain but it has made me eat healthier to help them out when they visit. Good shot and glad you had such a good time with your family and that your s-I-l is also doing well.

Seems to be a step back in time. I like your processing.
PS -- Husband has been trying to be gluten free, but fortunately for me, he's our cook! It is amazing, though, to me, how much you can do without gluten. I miss breads though.

Such a shame and I reckon it will hold so many memories too.
Always good to come home to home comforts

Processing works well. Good find.
June 14th, 2015
Love the effects. Looks creepy
June 14th, 2015
Cellulitis can be really nasty so you did a good thing sorting her out!
June 14th, 2015
Interesting old place and good on you for visiting and caring !
June 14th, 2015
Great image and 3 good things :)
June 14th, 2015
It does look run down, but it's a lovely capture and composition.
June 14th, 2015
Wonderful processing on this one.....makes it look even older than it probably is!! So glad it was not the state of your home when you returned!! ;-)))
June 14th, 2015
@panthora I'd rather stand on the outside of this place than try to get inside! Can you imagine the smell inside?
June 14th, 2015
Great comp and processing.
June 14th, 2015
Love the secret, mysterious look of this, the way the trees frame it, and you processing. Fav.
June 15th, 2015
Lots of stories this old place could tell. Some good and some sad I am sure.
June 15th, 2015
Such an interesting little building - your processing really suits the subject.

Nice shot. Sad that whoever owns it let it go to rot. It looks like it could have been a very nice place to settle. Nice that you visited the SIL.
