This was the ultimate day - would 3 years of my work on the Journal disappear! The computer was going so s.l.o….w! it turned out I had 4gb of junk on it! I did save in all directions,- even in the direction of the cat if she was taking it in! Then after hours of trying got “Cleanmymac’ going! And my journal survived …big sigh of relief!
By that time I’d tried various shots with auto ISO which I really wanted to see. Its out the window too so one can see chimneys and power lines of course.
Three Good things:
1. This was one that because of the light contrast, looked better in B&W.
2. A bad day with J’’s AF - he had an episode from 1am to about 4pm! Good thing - he doesn’t have to chop wood!
3. I love the name “Larch Mountain’ on one of my 365 friends and yet she said, no larches! To me it’s like a title - "The Secret on Larch Mountain"
What a beautiful view from your window!! I just read the comments about ISO on your previous shot. I never go below ISO 100. If I did I would have to use a tripod to eliminate shake and noise. If I am taking inside shots and don't want to use flash or tripod I would put my ISO up quite a bit - I keep checking until I can get a shot without blur. Just experiment Maggimae. Hope John is ok - that sounds like a bad night for you both.
@pamknowler thanks for your concern, Pam! He was a bit poorly all day yesterday but is OK today! I'm going to have to use my tripod a bit more instead of holding the camera against my face for stability!
Glad you got the computer sorted out without losing your work on the journal and sorry to hear that J was bad. On a different note I like your shot as others have said quite draMatic. I especially like the line of trees on the hilltop
Wonderful shot here maggiemae...I always like a gritty dark shot......, lovely the way every line is highlighted!
I hope John is feeling much better by now but scary...why does one always feel worse in the wee small hours when you don't want to bother anyone! You are an amazing woman to fit all you do in one day & comment so fully on here!
Thank goodness you saved all!
Nice bit of processing Maggie. You mention Js AF: does it happen often? You also mention wood chopping: does he choose to carry on as normally as possible or try to avoid physical stress? I ask because I have had 3 such episodes.. you will have noted my response, but a guy across the road takes the exact opposite view. Sorry if my questions aren't welcome… its OK not to respond.
@yrhenwr No problems, David - happy to impart any information. John's AF has got worse over the years to it happening almost every night. He is on 3 sorts of medication now and so does have some days with no episodes. It is brought on by exercise too but he needs to exercise even gently every day - but he doesn't! The biggest danger is having a stroke so he takes blood thinners.
@happypat John's feeling OK now but as you say, we both have bad nights when he is having an episode. Being retired means we can nap during the day but I don't - its too much of a waste of time for me!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie. Almost every night is tough. The evidence for exercise is compelling… hope he can get motivated to do some, but I realise that it's a fine line.
Lots of great layers in this and the tree line on the hill is so sharp. The b/w gives lots of detail. Two more good things, J is feeling better and the journal is thankfully saved!
Glad that J is feeling better today :)
and glad your journal survived
