An odd moment.. by maggiemae

An odd moment..

This was intended to be a pencil drawing but it didn’t work out that way. I am outside in a long black skirt and high heels (help) because I didn’t want this shot to be taken in slippers! I look like I have picked some flowers for a funeral! That’s only my expression which is not true!

Three good things:

1 If I don’t turn the corners of my mouth up at the sides, I look as if I’m going to a funeral. Not a good thing but good that I know this!

2. It was freezing outside and I was so glad to come inside and put my slippers on again.
3. John didn’t notice that I had high heels, a skirt or even a flower in my mouth - as usual!
It's lovely Maggiemae....and so are you! Love it in b&w but wonder what the colors of the garden are?

@eyesmile Mostly green and wintry brown, Gena but the flowers I have got are yellow rhododendrons from the bush on my left!

Well that's a man for you..surprised he didn't ask where you were going! I think I look really glum if I don't smile...I do try to keep a slightly upturned mouth if I remembers, a different sort of effect here but very interesting maggiemae......something different which I never do!

4th good thing ....you hasve started my day with a smile & a chuckle! thankyou Maggiemae

Best commentary ever! Love the dramatic portrait too.

La dee dah!! Very spiffy ! Shame on John for not knowing or noticing! Let's not forget though that he is the one that drove you around to get a perfect view that made it to the PP not too long ago! As you once berated me I will now berate you for not smiling in this shot. Perhaps you knew when you went in John would not notice! A terrific black-and-white shot and kudos to you for wearing sandals on a cold day!

Lovely B&W image Maggiemae! I think it's because you are looking down at the flowers that I get the feeling you are going to a funeral! I have a face that looks miserable if I am not actually smiling!! When I was younger people would tell me to cheer up as it may never happen! I do try to look more cheerful - I think it's easier when you get older and are not self conscious!

i like your mono conversion and framing maggie
August 10th, 2015
poor john, i think even i would have noticed a flower in your mouth.
August 10th, 2015
Beautiful shot.
August 10th, 2015
Interesting processing. The detail is very sharp.
August 10th, 2015
Ahhhhhhhahahahaha! Your commentary cracked me up!! It is not your face that makes it look like you picked flowers for a funeral!! It's how your head is bent down and the way you are holding the flowers with a couple of them hanging sadly to the side! It's a great capture I think and looks fine in B/W!! People always think I'm mad!! Yes, both ways!!! LOL FAV!
August 10th, 2015
You just made me smile. It's the shades that make this shot!!!!!!!!!
August 10th, 2015
@pamknowler I totally agree - maybe its because we are less inclined to worry when we get older so its easier to arrange one's face in an acceptable way!
August 10th, 2015
@cashew Actually since I posted this shot, a lady rang me and asked me if I would put a flower on my sister's grave which is not far from me - so this shot suits!
August 10th, 2015
@happypat When John is on the computer he wouldn't notice if I sat down next to him naked, Pat!
August 10th, 2015
Great b&w shot...really neat light...Your narrative made me laugh...what does it take to get noticed?
August 10th, 2015
Men! Lovely light and woman despite no turned up lips
August 10th, 2015
The way you slightly bend over looking down at the flowers gives the impression of sadness, but otherwise the picture is nice and you look beautiful. men are all alike, they don't notice us when we really want them too.
August 10th, 2015
Very nicely composed! Love the processing and the framing!
August 10th, 2015
@bruni Thanks for your great comment, Bruni! I guess if we didn't get out of our nightwear, they might notice!
August 10th, 2015
@maggiemae Oh dear things are bad maggiemae!!!
August 10th, 2015
i didn't think you were sad, i thought you were pissed! those high heels could do that to you if you aren't used to it, and if you have to wear them on a cold cold day. you look smashing here. pity that john for missing you and your glamour!
August 10th, 2015
Ha, sounds a bit like a husband I know! Nice b&w with great contrasts and you look terrific.
August 10th, 2015
What a pretty black and white shot of you, with the backlit hair and flowers. It's so good to see you trying new things and it would be quite the different picture if you had stayed in your slippers!
August 10th, 2015
@summerfield Don't tell me you actually saw me fall into that bush, Vikki! Now looking very carefully where I put my feet! lol!
August 10th, 2015
Very nice b-w :)
August 10th, 2015
Bep
Men! You look great in B&W, Maggiemae.
August 10th, 2015
Wonderful commentary Maggiemae and be grateful that John even noticed that you were there! You must have some sun as the light and shadows are very effective. High heels!! I look at some of the ones I see people not just walking but dancing in. I would need a walking frame to keep me upright!
August 10th, 2015
Very funny commentary and thread...an entertaining way to start the day! And it's a lovely shot despite the rather 'down' feel!
August 10th, 2015
Haha... I definitely thought you were on your way to a grave when I saw it. What would've been worse is if you were a bride with that expression! I'm glad you were not at a funeral, nor were you an unhappy bride. :) I think it's a lovely shot.
August 10th, 2015
Lovely capture and framing, did you press the shutter and run round in view, my box-brownie does do that. (Wink)
August 10th, 2015
Nice selfie Maggie I do like what you did with this
August 10th, 2015
A brave selfie; that's the way, Marg, start the day as you mean to go on and praise the Lord for rhododendrons.
August 10th, 2015
@thistle Two steps in high heels is about my limit, Joyce! Slippers - now I could walk forever!
August 10th, 2015
@ladymagpie I have10 seconds to run around the tripod and compose myself trying not to fall into that bush on my high heels!
August 10th, 2015
The things one does in the name of 365! Well done!
August 10th, 2015
Love this shot of you in B&W... You look serious not sad. I was told once by a model( the only one I ever met) that if you put your tongue tip to the back of your teeth/roof of your mouth that you generate a smile even with closed lips. It worked for me and i use it on occasions when I don't feel like smiling but have to!
August 10th, 2015
@kelly2 Tried that Irene - just gave me more of a double chin!
August 10th, 2015
Fun stuff Maggiemae!
August 10th, 2015
Your funereal look, couple with your commentary, gave me laugh--thanks!
August 11th, 2015
Glad to know it was not a sad occasion, but you got a really good picture out of it!! You just look really serious, and yes, you could be bending down to place flowers at somebody's grave, which makes the B&W processing very appropriate!
August 11th, 2015
My neighbors are so used to seeing me taking pictures in the front lawn this would not phase them- nor would the slippers! Next time go for comfort! hehe
August 12th, 2015
High heels in your mouth? Very strange, Maggie! :-)
August 12th, 2015
@yrhenwr I said a flower in my mouth, David, not heels! You know like a rose?
August 13th, 2015
I love your commentary Maggie! It made me laugh!!
August 13th, 2015
I didn't notice Joe had cut off his beard... I think this picture is ambiguous. We have no idea what you're thinking about, which could be anything from needing to cut the cabbage for dinner to poetry about the flowers to great loss to......anything!
August 13th, 2015
It's a great b/w shot regardless. I think half the fun is reading all the commets!
August 13th, 2015
I got the 'funeral' feeling from this too - it's the downcast eyes and the B&W I think. Wonderful shot.
