My excitement is being tempered all the time as my latest granddaughter is about to be born in Canada. My youngest son aged 43 is becoming a father after many years of saying, ‘no way, hosee’ for children! Love is transforming.
Anyway I bought this delightful little knitted dress - Oamaru created and NZ wool for the present to come after the birth!
Three good things;
1. When you experiment, you learn so much with photography!
2. Don’t tell anyone but I’m knitting something and it is not anywhere near this quality! I had to unravel about 2 inches last night!
3. When you have knelt in mud to get a photo and trekked in that mud on to a mud coloured carpet, it doesn’t matter!
LOVE IT! Congratulations! I know how you feel...or felt! Neither of my boys have their own children. I adore my step grandchildren ("bonus grandkids") immensely!!! This is such a lovely celebration shot! Hope she will love purple!!
Lovely purples and a delightful little dress, the new parents and the new baby will love it. A friend of mine will become a grandmother for the first time in October. She's very excited (so am I actually, as I'll be an honorary great aunt)--the baby is being born in Spain, so my friend would know how you feel.
What an exciting time for you Maggiemae!! I feel for you being so far away from your children and grandchildren!! Skyping is just not the same is it? Lovely image!!
Such an exciting time! This is an adorable dress, for an eagerly-awaited baby. :) Too bad, so far away, but at least you will have a new grandchild. Maybe a reason to visit Canada?
Great colour choice for a girl. I know how you feel. I have a 6 month old grandson in Sweden. Skyping helps but looking forward to December when. They arrive in NZ for a long visit!
This is a beautiful little dress maggiemae.......has that certain flare that looks expensive! I am sure everyone is very excited....first baby at 43 is not that uncommon these days but they have done so much more before they have their babies now. Congratulations on the impending grandparent hood!
@happypat It was expensive, Pat but it was so well made I thought it worth it and presents all seem to cost a lot nowadays! I'm holding my breath - due 28th!
@ishutter I agree, Kim - but on John's side (previous marriage) he has 20 grandchildren, heaven knows how many great grandchildren and now 2 great great grandchildren! However, this one will be special to me!
This is a beautiful little dress Maggiemae and wonderful that is NZ wool and manufacture. How exciting to have a impending arrival and an excuse to visit Canada. I have been a couple of times and I just love it. Beautiful country and lovely people
Good thing number one is so true, as is good thing number three (and it's also funny!) Can't comment on number 2 but I have mixed feelings about the colour co-ordination in this delightful shot! :-)
@yrhenwr No 2 is like looking at your photo and saying, 'delete' immediately only unravelling knitting takes a bit longer and you have to be very careful not to drop a stitch!
Congratulations Maggie. how wonderful that your son is becoming a dad. 43 years of age is not too old to have children. sadly for you, your children live overseas. I know what that is like. in my case it was the other way around. I had my children here in Canada while my family lived in Germany. the dress is adorable and I'm sure it will begreatly appreciated.
What exciting news for you. Lovely dress and colour. I struggled to knit for mine, but really felt I should, managed a couple of items after much backtracking!
Congratulations on the new granddaughter! It's so cool that you know it's a girl so you can buy girl clothes instead of having to wait and see what to buy. It's such a pretty dress. What on earth were you knitting? Not that I can say much about it as I don't know how to knit because being the only southpaw in my family, nobody could teach me to knit. Maybe I really was adopted.
Missed this one. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the new grandchild! My first granddaughter was also born in the UK. Came to visit twice and we went there after she was born. She turned two in June. Miss her a lot!
