A funny day of experimentation! I did want to find out what focus stacking was. The only thing I stacked was the groceries in the cupboard!
I did try one photo completely unfocused and layered a focused one one on top. This is the result. Same scene different focus. Some odd results!
I can't focus on different points in one scene without moving my camera.
The date says 18th but I took the unfocused scene on the 20th.
Three good things:
1. John on his penicillin is not doing well - feels sick, now got a temperature! Good thing is Google where I find out what is actually dangerous. Ok at the moment.
2. My sister drove down from north just for a cup of coffee and a chat! How nice!
3. David Attenborough’s programmes have the best music!
At least you are trying which i more than I have done! This is a good result too ! Is that a wee little photobomber bug or part of the prcessing on the petal on the right?
There is something quite appealing about this rose except I would love to get rid of the black mouldy bits !! But Maggiemae ,I admire your constant persistent in achieving something I have not even tried !
Hope John will soon get better and I hope he is not allergic to penicillin ( I am ! )
Well I think it's terrific maggiemae....I have never heard of anybody doing anything like this before! Younarecway beyond me...I have been passed big time! The petals look very thin & I feel I could just reach out & break one off! Poor John, antibiotics make you feel, lousy sometimes!
@happypat thank you for your kind words, Pat! You are supposed to have Photoshop to do this and I am working at doing it with only the apps available to me! I don't do PS.
Your trying, that's more than I do. I tried Photoshop but it's too complicated. except for the black rim the rose looks lovely.
I know how John feels. antibiotics have done it to me many times. hope he feels better soon.
@bruni Those black rims appeared when I layered the blurred photo behind the rose photo, Bruni! Thanks for your concern! Pleased really to know it happens - the nausea!
@taffy Its not a bug, thank goodness, Taffy - he's on anti biotics and they make him nauseus. I have to remind him he's 81 and can't leap about on rocks the way he used to!
There's something other-worldly about this image, and makes you want to look closer. I didn't realize focus stacking required PS -- haven't tried it yet but seems now I won't because I haven't learned PS. Tell John we all wish him better health soon!
@jyokota I understand about taking different focuses within the same frame which I've tried to do but its the 'stacking' that I feel might be necessary! But , gosh, who cares!
Hahaha what a laugh you gave me with your stacking story - I'm still laughing as I write this. Hope John is well for Christmas. A gorgeous shot this is.
well, good for you for trying, as i won't even try it even if you wring my neck. that's methinks a difficult process and i may not have the patience to do it. but you got a fabulous resulting image, and as sally @salza commented, it does have a 3D-ish effect. aces to you, young lady.
I love the fact that you are trying for this one!! I have read about and seen some wonderful focus stacked images, but I am just not in the mood to work on one with the holidays and thousands of photos from the trip waiting to be edited! Too bad as it sounds like the end results would definitely be worth the effort! I am sure you will get it soon, and will be creating some amazing images!
