Went downtown on Ruby, my wonderful electric bike to buy a colouring book (for adults). Have been encouraged by 365ers!
Then rode around the harbour looking at the colour in the sea with a tiny bit of blue sky but mostly clouds. This is a little pier where young ones launch their little sailboats
Three good things:
1. Creation is all good - photographs, colouring books, recipes - made a pie with my own recipe and John actually cut the pastry for the pie dishes! Photo later.
2. Did the lawns again - the lawn outside the property was tough, but no cars stopped to ask why this grey haired old lady with glasses was doing this! i would just have smiled and carried on!
3. Tennis is on here in NZ and the defending champion (Williams) has been beaten in the first game!
awesome colours and sky you captured here, maggiemae. a few months ago, i also dabbled in the colouring books, got one of birds and one of plants. they're still sitting on the work table. i'm not good at matching colours. just what my grade 1 teacher told me a long time ago!
@summerfield I thought you would be good, Vikki- you recognise colour in photographs! It's just a matter of letting one colour flow through the whole picture and the rest is contrast!
My family, like my son and his children are all very artistic. I've a few pictures I kept from their drawings, but the best one is a picture of a car engine my son did in school. his children enlarged and framed it and it's now hanging up in my sons home. I'm sure your husband would appreciate it.
@bruni You must have encouraged them to be artistic, Bruni! Family interests repeat themselves! That picture of the engine would go well in a "man shed"!
Wonderful scene. Our local paper publishes a colour in page each day and I'm taking a few pages and some coloured pencils on the trip as to an activity for sea days.
Just a stunning greeny blue colour of that sea......I can't wait to see your beautiful seas soon. Ours are rather muddy & churned up at the moment. Lovely scene & the little jetty stands proud in the water. Colouring books are very popular here too I believe, I haven't tried it myself so will be interested to see how you like it!
@happypat The colour attracted me to take this shot too, Pat. The colour changes every day. I've almost finished one design on the colouring book - my pencils aren't as bright as I wanted them to be. Might get some other ones!
I once was a great Tennis Player, we would skip lunch and rush home to catch a game or two! love the scene and the blue boat!! The water color is grand!!
Love the shades of greens and grays!! The green in the water is the part I like the best and how it outlines the piers!! Pretty view and looks like a great place to go fishing too!! FAV!
Wonderful shades of blue and green in this scene; it is beautiful!
I've seen a lot lately on the internet (especially Pinterest) about coloring books for grown-ups ...most of them look so intricate, and I assume that you need colored pencils, watercolors, etc to do them. I've also seen tutorials on doing digital coloring with Photoshop; it looks like an interesting hobby!
@dsp2 I originally bought just colouring pencils but decided they were not bright enough then remembered I had water colour pencils stored away! Its fascinating and you can get as creative as you want!
@maggiemae I was talking about this to someone else the other day as I thought ordinary coloured pencils wouldn't be rich enough. Felt tips are no good as they go through the other side. Her advice was to get really good traditional coloured pencils of the wooden variety & keep them well sharpened.
@happypat After posting a reply to your comment, Pat I suddenly remembered some water colour pencils I had stored in the garage from my water- colour painting days! Hey presto - just the right brightness but have to watch not too much water with them!
Hi, I would love to go with you on my own electric bike. This sounds something I would love to do. The problem here is we are 7 km outside town, Along the way you get these cattle without somebody watching, crossing the road. Ok when I get to town....No water...no see. Next best thing will enjoy your ride! My daughter also does the coloring thing and enjoys it. the picture....Fav. Would stay there all day.
So pleased you've got your colouring book Maggie. They are addictive. I really enjoy doing mine and they are great therapy. They have been a huge help while whilst I've been recovering from my surgery and prevent me from getting irritable because I hate sitting still!
