At 7am, we were informed over the loudspeakers that the boat would not dock at Dutch Harbour in the Aleutians due to zero visibility! The fog horn did its repetitive howls till about midday when we were able to see the island next to us which had several snowclad volcanoes on it including one which had steam rising from its pointed top.
Three good things:
1. Finished a good book by Anna Gruen who wrote Water for Elephants.
2. A cocktail competition where we tasted five different ones to vote on the best
3. John has won the daily mileage competition three times now!
Well done John, he must be an expert but I would think he will be quite competitive about that & enjoy working it out! It looks cold but very beautiful. I need to look up where you are as I seem to have lost track!
What a view...too bad you couldn't dock. We are on a motorcycle trip going to some of the National parks in the Southwest. Our routes are dictated day by day with the weather
Have just seen John on TV1 on the 'Coast' program .. interview at the Bert Munro race.. It is a very good program .. I hope you can get a copy of it when you get back.
What a stunning view. Hard to believe you spent the morning in the fog!
Either John is very good at the daily mileage or he doen't have much competition!
@julzmaioro Thanks Julia - we knew it would be on sometime but I did try to save all the Coast programs on the TV so hopefully we might see it when we get home!
