A bit side-tracked today - wanting to “make a home” in our new caravan! Who can relate to this? Putting flowers in, books in the shelf, cushions on the chairs, pillows on the bed! The only thing I couldn’t do is put pictures on the walls! We found cupboards for most things…….. the only thing is we didn’t put the back support legs down. On both walking into the back bathroom, the caravan went down with a thump! Then when we moved up to the front, that went down with an awful thump and dislodged the jockey wheel!
Three good things:
1 John managed to fix the wheel provided I got into the back bathroom and he put a 25kg water filled drum beside me! To balance the see saw! I didn’t breathe!
2. It was so cold outside we gave everything a miss for a while!
3. Challenges are good - physically and mentally!
Goodness you had best have a check list to tick things of for the first few times.. you must be very excited to get on the road for your first trip... looks very roomy..
@julzmaioro Can't do anything for a while, Julia - until our hard stand is finished to back the caravan when we return. Putting it here by the front door was a major exercise which involved a few broken bits and some branches of trees being lopped off!
So cosy, it would be like playing houses when you were young! I bet you're planning your first trip out already! I laughed about the seesaw! We used to go on a caravan holiday every year as children but me & my eldest brother we're too keen as we always went to Scotland & the weather was a bit rainy. My mum & dads bed was made up of the to side seats & the table slotted in to form a double bed. Every morning me & Michael were chucked outside in the rain while mum tried to get my dad up so she could lay the table for breakfast! Put me off caravaning but my younger brother loves it!
@happypat Oh, caravanning has to be done in good weather! I remember almost living outside and only sleeping in the caravan! Hot and sunny, meals outside round a bbq. As long as there are not hundreds of caravans around you though!
oh, dear! did the vase of flowers fall and broke? schucks! this looks so cozy and comfy. i'd go camping in something like this, with its own toilet so i don't encounter any snakes or bears! :-)
So cosy Maggiemae , it brings me so many happy memories of the fun and the carefree times we had when caravanning - and it is lovely to prepare and make homely the caravan for that home from home feeling !
Looks fabulous we had a camper miss it lots we did a south Is trip with Hubbys triplets 2 of my preschool grandies 2 dogs a cat and cockatiel some years ago had a wonderful time
I can, have rented a caravan in NZ and looking forward to owning one when we retire. We have a travel trailer now, but want a motor home when we retire. This one looks very nice. Love the flower spread.
It's those little touches that make it home. I loved putting wild flowers if we found any on the table. Just as we gave our van up we heard about a mover gadget that let you manoeuvre your van about without the car. That would have been great to have, but expensive I think.
