Well, I dunno... by maggiemae

Well, I dunno...

Not the result I wanted after looking at an idea for a photo challenge. The background was supposed to be black and white lines. And they said with a flash but that did not work.

Three good things;
1. Its only water in those liquor glasses.
2. Rain all day but no flooding yet! Cyclone Cook is arriving.
3. Fred Dagg was a NZ delight - John calls everyone male, Trev….. and this is where he got it from. “Fred Dagg had 12 sons all called Trev! Also I’m his “old sheila”! John Clarke who started out life as Fred Dagg - gumboots and black singlet - shifted to Australia because his wife wanted that. He died recently aged only 68.
Oh but I really like this. I think the reflected lines of text are really awesome alongside the shapes of the glass.

Brilliant conception maggie, all these lines, words, black & white shiny reflections! Good I find there are loads of Kevin's in NZ!

Maybe not the result you wanted, but I like it.
April 12th, 2017
I quite like it too! :)

@happypat Kevin is an Australian name, Pat - as is Duncan!
April 12th, 2017
Oh I love refraction pictures, and they're such fun to do too!

Looks great ..yes NZ lost a couple of icon recently with Murry Ball and John Clark... we had two ginger cats when we were first married and both their names were Trev..

@julzmaioro ..and don't forget Billy T James! Nobody can ever take their places!
April 12th, 2017
Still a cool photo!

This may not have been what you pictured in your mind but it is a very fascinating photo you have created a very interesting effect with all the reflections and the great light. Pity it's only water in the glasses!

I love the pattern made with this shot. So sad John Clarke has passed away, I loved his humour.
April 12th, 2017
@grammyn Should have been schnapps, Katy?
April 12th, 2017
I think this is an awesome shot. Love the distorted text.
April 12th, 2017
I like the reflections in this shot.
April 13th, 2017
I like the image but I'm still trying to puzzle out why water in the liquor glasses is a good thing?!!
April 13th, 2017
Nice reflections. Your shots are always so creative!

@vignouse My bottle of aquavit is almost empty, Richard!
April 13th, 2017
@maggiemae I have an almost full one in the freezer... put my tag into your GPS and ring the doorbell when you arrive!
April 13th, 2017
@vignouse And thats where it should be - in the freezer!
April 13th, 2017
@maggiemae sure why not?!
April 13th, 2017
great idea, unique!
April 13th, 2017
@grammyn I don't think liquor would have the same reflective clarity and besides, I would keep having to try a sip - or two then after replacing the liquor over a period, I would then be trying to do the photo from the floor!

Interesting effect- I am horrible at these kinds of set-ups, so I can't give you any tips. But I think it came out just fine!
April 13th, 2017
Like Ann said above, I like the result and have no idea how to do setups for this kind of image. I think it's well done.
April 13th, 2017
Don't know what you were looking for, but what you got is fabulous!
April 13th, 2017
@olivetreeann What I really wanted was to get the focus within the glasses a bit more clear!
April 13th, 2017
That is an eye-catching capture. As it isn't what you set out to achieve I'd be happy to call it a lucky accident 8-) Fav
April 13th, 2017
@tonydebont I didn't have a background of black and white lines, Tony which would have created a sharper image! Thanks for your fav!
April 13th, 2017
Still a really cool shot!
April 13th, 2017
I think this is very cool even if it didn't work the way you wanted it too. I had to turn the laptop on its side to read the words about NZ which is a nice touch too. Stay safe and dry over the next 24-36 hours. Fav
April 13th, 2017
@kiwinanna Hey, Liana - good for you for turning the pic on its side. This was one of two books we got - the back side of "Mobile NZ Travel Guide' South Island - 5th edition -1992 believe it or not!
April 13th, 2017
Very artistic! I really like this.
April 13th, 2017
Very cool
April 13th, 2017
I like this idea and it executed nicely.
April 13th, 2017
That makes a cool image - looks very artistic.
April 13th, 2017
@maggiemae Lol! Adifferent POV !
April 13th, 2017

April 13th, 2017
Very cool sight
April 13th, 2017
This turned out really cool looking, Maggiemae. Great reflections and very creative. FAV
April 14th, 2017
May not be what you wanted, but it's kind of cool looking.
April 14th, 2017
I like the reflections. The overall effect is quite mesmerizing.
