Niagara Falls and our first peek at these mighty
Falls. This is the American Falls which aren't as big as the Canadian ones. We were up in the Skylon Restaurant.
Three good things:
1. We got a table right by the window so we could view the Falls from sunset to dark.
2. Plenty of opportunities to photograph during the morning - tourists flocked later in the day.
3. A Soft Freeze in a cafe - cooling and delicious.
You and your husband have really seen a lot of America on this trip! The commercialization of Niagara Falls was the wake up call for preservationists in America to designate our national natural treasures (Grand Canyon, Yosemite, etc) as national parks, so we wouldn't have unsightly structures and signage in them. A very good thing.
@taffy Sad about the rain - we have had fine weather for the past 3 weeks! Kingston Ontario tonight and staying at the Queens Inn - an old and historic pub.
Fav fav fav! Great shot, Maggie! You're only 9 hours away from me, ya know... you should swing by the neighbor state while you're here and come visit! That would be so awesome to meet you in person! I love Niagara Falls. I've been several times. Make sure you go on the Maid Of The Mist that takes you down to the falls! It's SO cool! ... and please come visit if you can! :)
@prttblues Don't really know where you are Bev! Doesn't say in your personal history! Anyway, a big hello from Niagara though we are now on the way to Kingston Ontario!
It's great to see such a different view of the falls, especially at night. I didn't realise there were so many buildings close by. Looks like you're having an amazing trip!
Decades ago we went to Canada and viewed the Falls from their side ...When we got there, it was night and the Falls were gorgeous lit up with all sorts of colored lights. We didn't have this high of an overview, though.
Great night shot. I've taken one with the Falls all lit up in color but not from this height- although I'd probably be battling big-time butterflies in my stomach from this vantage point.
What a fabulous view.
