Our Golf Course night was of course very quiet apart from the magpies squawbbling!
We went just up the road to the famous Riverstone Kitchen where you can get the most fabulous food. I had a cherry and chocolate sour dough which took me 1/2 hour to chew but was so nice. John had his usual date scone but they served it with home made jam and whipped cream which he felt, not just expected.
Over on the backside of this restaurant is ‘Dot’s Castle’. Its a real castle and has made headlines in NZ.
A pity there were still machines there doing something but it still gives you a glance on what she, Dot, is going to have happen.
Three good things;”
1. A new book to read
2. No wind but temps that made us light our home fire!
3. Tutankhamen on TV - made me re-read my mother’s 1929 diary - published by me several years ago.
@julzmaioro Yes, I think they have moved in - put pictures up and chandeliers etc. But there must be more outside work to do - or fix. Riverstone is shut on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Of course I had to go immediately & google this castle. Fascinating story it is too & now I am a follower of Dots Castle on FB! You can see inside on video. I shall definitely have to see that place if we come down your way again! Thank you for showing us this very interesting building.
What an amazing story is attached to this image! Dot's castle is a testament to the fact that anything's possible if you have the patience and determination.
what's the book?
I'll have to go back and check your mother's diary again too!
