The Geneva Watch Fair featured a new watch dedicated to John's father, Burt Munro who broke records on a motorbike at the age of 67 and the record still stands after 50 years. Its a lovely watch and he got one as a present. Worth thousands, it will be a treasure and not worn often.
Three good things:
1.. Thousands of people here in the huge EXPO all looking at watches - eating, drinking walking! Not a public event.
2. Wore an outfit I'd had for yonks and hardly worn at all, to the evening party.
3. A nap in the afternoon!
How wonderful! Such a great tribute to Burt Monro! How amazing that his record still stands! Lovely for you that John was presented with one of the watches! One to treasure! Fav!
A wonderful display Maggie. Beautiful bike so sleek & modern looking....I love the red seat! The watch perfectly displayed there beside it, John & you must feel very honoured to part of it all, great that he has a watch too to wear. Number 35 being the number of Burts bike? I wonder what he would make of all this?
@judithg Not at all - he set his record in a 1920 Indian Scout that he spent over 50 years trying to get it to go faster. This was a recent 1 million dollar spend by Indian Motorcycles in the USA to recognise that!
Aha! Is that the reason you're running around in Europe? What a terrific honor! And what a great experience! Were the attendees well versed in Burt's accomplishments?
p.s. the song is in my head still. but I wouldn't want to change it to raindrops keep falling on my head. :-D
