We are staying here for 2 nights and it seems like really off the beaten track. However there was a small cafe here, open from 10am to 3pm. Thought it was a good place for morning coffee. Also, for lunch where John chose a red wine and the opening of a bottle went …pop! Another bottle, another tasting and…….. eventually a glass of good merlot. Cute bar!
Three Good Things:
1. The most divine chocolate cake.
2. Wondered how they can make a profit here …. then two huge buses pulled up and 60 people lined up for an obviously prepaid lunch - fish and chips!
3. The thunder echoed around this seaside valley and lightning struck - right above our van! I just about lost the plot! Fortunately only the internet was affected… there was no signal from then on. Books came out.
I know you have facilities for meals & coffee but it's always much nicer to go out isn't it? Sounds like a very sociable lunch! You would feel a little exposed under the thunder & lightening!
@happypat We do really enjoy going out for coffee and lunch too if there is somewhere. Always a new experience! I did ask John (who was in the bathroom) if he was still alive after that lightning flash and the rotter didn't answer!

It's always nice to improve my English; I'm sure we didn't learn about 'rotter'. There's a word in Dutch that almost sounds the same and means the same: 'rotzak'. Not a word you are supposed to use...
I so like these surprise places for coffee/lunch they maker such happy memories on a trip, you will have so many.....Divine Chocolate Cake & coffee sound great!
Lovely to find these surprise cafes - especially if they are little gems ,making good lunches and coffee ! -- love its rustic look ! Thunderstorms in a van can be horrendous cant it !
Although it sounds as if you had a very close call with the lightning divine chocolate cake can fix almost anything (; John looks so young in this photo. Perhaps he should go to bars more often? LOL!

You are going to use the Dutch equivalent now, I suppose? ;-)
