We went to Switzerland courtesy of Baume et Mercier as they brought out a limited edition of a watch dedicated to John’s father, Burt Munro’s record that has never been broken. On a 1920 Indian Scout.
Three good things:
1. John and his young relation, Lee Munro who rode an Indian bike to a record last year, got a watch each.
2. John got his watch today which had been kept in a safe place till we returned home.
3. The back of the watch has John’s name and other details. Unique.
How wonderful! A watch to treasure - great that Burt Munro is still remembered and that his record still stands! John must be so proud of his father’s achievement!
Wow .. looks very smart ... Burt Munro just keeps on giving .. I managed to get a bottle of his Whiskey the other day .. have squirrled it away until Farmer George's Birthday ... so shhh don't tell him ..
That is super cool! Your shot is lovely and looks like a nice advert but wow! What a wonderful story! I'm going to have to google his father and read up.
You really captured it well and what an honor for Johns dad. Keeping the bike and his accomplishments alive . Used your 3 good things to help my mood yesterday.
A beautiful watch, I love the strong face, so easy to tell the time at a glance! Nice red strap too. Oh dear @julzmaioro FG is not to drink his whisky! I think he might ignore that perhaps! John must be delighted to receive this watch, I bet Lee wears his!
@happypat John has to read the manual first, Pat. Its an auto wind-up watch - winds itself up when worn. Lee wears his when he goes to appropriate meetings where he wants to impress.
What a treasure!
