This was such a pleasurable day - an eye specialist for my hubby who might lose his heavy vehicle license if the new glasses won’t help. They will and he got the licence. I sat in the car and took some unremarkable photos. John came out and said, ‘how about I take you out to lunch”? Of course I agreed.
We decided on this restaurant right on the harbour called Portside and we chose the sharing platter of seafood and from then on, the day got better!
Scene from the restaurant. Good on the Black too.
Three good things
1. Paua fritters took my eye and made this dish memorable. Then crab, smoked salmon, smoked mussels, ceviche, beautifully done, garlic prawns etc.
2. Started out preparing for the tax returns.
3. Made a photobook from FB that I’m really impressed with. 198 photos from 389 that FB have chosen over the years!
that's a beautiful view you got whilst eating that spectacular seafood fare! the background reminds me of lunenberg, nova scotia when i last visit louise & ken. fabulous shot, maggiemae. aces!
Sounds the perfect day, not so certain in the morning then all comes good! John must have been relieved! Nice to put that behind you & you can look forward to more travels to come. Your lunch sounds amazing!
@happypat Never had such a variety on a seafood platter, Pat! One to remember. I think lunches are much better than dinner with restaurant dining! We don't need a heavy traffic licence for our motorhome but John likes to keep the licence going.
@gijsje The paua is particularly special, Bep......Pāua is the Māori name given to three species of large edible sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs which belong to the family Haliotidae, known in the United States and Australia as abalone, and in the United Kingdom as ormer shells.
This one is especially beautiful on black. For some reason it gives it a vintage look. I love that you got to go out to lunch with John and that you enjoyed it and that your day only got better from there!
@rhoing@grammyn Thom and Katy - makes me wonder if sepia would be as good but have never really found sepia works with landscape! Thanks for your nice comments!
