Another book published! This time the publishers were in the Netherlands but the freight was combined with the publishing price and not a long time - 7 - 9 working days.
This is made up of photos I took while travelling around NZ for 3 months from February this year. Some of which you may have seen on 365. But I added commentary and they added temperatures, altitude, exact GPS co-ordinates, and mileage, be -it in Dutch format. And which photos to put full page!
Three good things:
1 Very pleased with it in spite of a few errors - wrong spellings due to predictive text. I should have edited it more carefully!
2. Putting up lights in a cabinet that came on with movement proved more difficult than anticipated. We got chocolates as a reward for patience!
3. I ordered more than one book to be able to give to friends and family for Xmas but its extremely heavy with a hard cover and glossy pages. Some photos look better than the original!
This looks like a lovely “coffee table book”. That’s what we call the big, heavy, full of photos books on every subject from furniture to bugs. Ha! I’m sure it’s gorgeous and will make wonderful Christmas gifts.
I did one for my Oz holiday and my brother @phil_sandford did one of my first year of 365 photos for my 60th birthday- one of the best surprise gifts I've very had!!
I admire your patience in selecting the shots, it's the ones to omit that's so hard!!
@phil_howcroft Fascinating, Phil - you had to put where the photo was taken and there was a map of NZ alongside that positioned the scene exactly when it found that place. Not sure how they did this! Then the next scenes had the mileage from the last scenes.
That's lovely. I have a few photo books which record photos etc from special times and they are really special. One has a little text from Facebook comments the year I was 60 so I love it. But written the way you have takes a lot of time and care. Enjoy!
How exciting, Maggiemae! Looks beautiful! I will need to consider this. I have made books before of my charm bracelets and other jewelry but not my 365 photos yet. PS...I posted my Sophie Belle birthday shot! :)
Looks fantastic & with all the extra jnfo..& what a great present for the family. I have made 5 books with ' Snap Fish ' with commentary & they are so special,.....
How great is that..i keep meaning to do some myself.with some of my "best"photos...it is now on my to do list..well done you.looks fab.would love browse through it.!
Clever that they work those details out for you. I have used Photobox before in the UK and they produce lovely books, but you do all the work yourself! Lovely thing to have and give away.
I don't know how much you paid but I find Snapfish, in the UK, very resaonable; worth having a look. They don't add things as with the company you used.but you can add text.
A lovely reminder of your travels. I put together my photobooks of 365 photos each year and I am also putting together a book for a friend of ours who had his 80th birthday last month. David and I took the photos of his party and we asked if he would be interested in putting them together in a book and he agreed.
@onewing Funnily enough - or not so funny.... I thought about the recently deceased friend we had and wanted to publish a book with all the photos he was in - for his wife!
@maggiemae That is a lovely idea. Last year we took photos at a party of friends ours for their 50th wedding anniversary and put together a photo book of the event. Plus we added their wedding photos and various photos of events through the years too, lent to us by their daughter. I am so glad we did this because now, 12 months on they are both in palliative care, he with a brain tumour and she with Alzheimer's. Their daughter will have a lovely memory of happier times thanks to the book.
You are all highly talented to know where to even start doing something like a book. Must be quite time consuming but a lovely thing to have & keep as a reminder of your travels, the firm you used sounds amazing with all that detail!
what an interesting concept that app is. i particularly like the idea of NZ from a motorhome, as for many travellers...that is exactly how they see NZ. I make my photo books using Apple....and they get printed in Japan...back here quite quickly in Australia. They are costly...the most recent one was 100 pages and i paid something like $230. I love the quality of the printing and paper. My cousin used to do his travel books while travelling on his iPhone so when he landed back at home...he just pressed buy! but they dont let you do that from a phone any more apparently.
I admire your patience in selecting the shots, it's the ones to omit that's so hard!!
How did they get the mileage ?
