This is a photo I would like to see again and again. Something I really love - eggs.
This is done in a porcelain coddling pot with the usual screw top on. The green is parsley and the pale yellow is a thin slice of cheese and the red gold is the gorgeous yolk!
Three Good Things:
1. Toast fingers with the eggs.
2. Looking at Travel websites may be better than the real thing.
3. Fresh sheets on the bed.
Nice shot! I've never tried eggs like that but I think I would love them too. I like soft boiled eggs with soldiers, and poached eggs with toast and cottage cheese. Eggs are wonderful!
@grammyn You don't see the beautiful pictures on this coddling pot with this sort of shot! I'll have to show them from the front - ahh - today's picture!
@maggiemae I used to have some coddling pots that my husband brought back from Europe for me . I had too many children at the time to use them and now l don't know where they are
Wonderful ! nothing like a lovely chooky egg one of my favourite foods - and can always eat a boiled egg when I do not fancy anything else ! I have never tried a coddled egg in spite inheriting rather beautiful china coddling pot of my grandmother. I always remember the tv advert of the 60-70;s in the UK-- "go to work on an egg " !!
@grammyn I have five, Katy and even got one from the States. But they are English Porcelain and worth quite a bit of money. But apart from that they are really exquisite!
@beryl I love boiled eggs too but often get them too hard. This way they always remain soft inside! Give yours a try - put a deep enough pot on to simmer, put in a trivet, then your coddling pot with the lid screwed on. Allow 15 minutes with the water just off simmering point! (for 2 eggs, this is)
@maggiemae Well what do you know?! I found mine in my china cabinet (i hardly ever use anything from there for everyday meals) and they say Royal Worcester Fine Porcelain on the bottom!
@maggiemae This looks absolutely divine. I have never made them , but would like to. The 15 minutes, are for two coddling pots or for two eggs in one pot?
@ludwigsdiana This is for 2 eggs in one pot. You can have as many pots as you own in the one boiling pot for 15 mins. If there was only one egg in the pot there would be a lot of space left which you could fill with whatever - even cream! When I use 2 eggs per pot, I crack the eggs in a glass and tip just the yolk and a bit of white into the coddler. You can use the egg whites for anything - we are having a 'white lady' cocktail now with ours!
I absolutely LOVE eggs and we eat them for breakfast every day. I haven't coddled them in a while - must do that. We have some lovely egg coddlers in the cupboard.
@casablanca You have to plan ahead but its worth it. Put a bit of bacon in with them, a few leaves of spinach, some mushroom - the world's your oyster and its a full meal!
I too love eggs in any shape or firm especially our own eggs. I have heard of coddled eggs many years ago but I've never ever had one. I have never seen an egg coddler but I must say it all looks & sounds delicious specially with a layer if cheese! I might search out an egg coddler & have a go!
A fantastic food capture, MaggieMae. But, it looks too liquid for me to eat. I like omelets or scrambled eggs only so you cannot see the white separate from the yolk, but all mixed together. Otherwise, I would eat the yolk sunnyside up until almost firm and cut off all the white tasteless part.
