The crew that had these wonderful and huge beasts here to pull the cart purely for pleasure organised themselves right opposite from where we were camped. It took a lot of time to get them harnessed and attached and as there were a total of 3 Clydesdales here, only two were used at a time. The third one, I watched. He was very keen to watch where they had gone.
Three good things:
1. On this day the event worked. After this I hears that this cart had been damaged and could not be used again.
2. The owners put them in one of the yards beside where we were parked and I could hear the harrumph of them often!
3.The weather was atrocious! Hail, wind, cold - 3deg C but didn't put off the public wanting to come!
How wonderful , it could easily tale you back in time except for the modern wheels and tyres ,and indeed the modern vehicles in the background ! Shame that the weather is horrendous for you . !!
Absolutely adore Clydesdales, such magnificent beasts. I'm old enough to remember them pulling milk floats, bread carts, ice carts etc through the streets.
& cosy in your van watching everyone in the rain... sounds like you were in the best place!
