For the first time in 8 years and hopefully the last, I’m not posting a photo I took! This photo is John’s as he waits amongst so many others waiting to be seen in Hospital Emergency.
John had a nasty accident -tore off a huge piece of skin and flesh from his lower leg. Got chucked off a ladder by an enemy bike rail - can’t elaborate!
He’s been taken to a bigger city hospital for stitches under a general anaesthetic.
Three good things;
1. Its good I can even think of this but - better physical injury than internal!
2. Ambulances are wonderful!
3. The number 111 was all you have read about - supportive and calm… I was shaking so much I almost dropped the phone!
Oh, Maggiemae...so sorry this has happened,..my prayer goes out to you both..a speedy recovery for John & return home to recover. I shook like a leaf when I had to call an ambulance for my husband so I feel for you..It is a shock for you both..
Thankfully no broken bones. I know your pain with mom breaking her elbow and yesterday falling in the bathroom. Thankfully she was fine but we did take a trip to her ortho dr. for a quick x-Ray to ease her mind that she didn't hurt it. No more ladders .....
Oh dear maggie, was so shocked to read this...seem to be the last to read it too! What a terrible thing to happen, lots of blood I expect & you fear the worst. John is usually so full of beans it will be awful to see him laid up & that leg will be very sore. Hope his recovery goes well....are you in Christchurch....it will be slow but the good thing is it’s a good time of the year to be laid up. In his seat by your wood burner, I can picture him now. It’s the shock, not just for John but you too...take care of yourself as you will be main career for a week or two. Big hugs to you both & sending love from me & Harry to you both. 😘😘
Oh goodness that all sounds very traumatic. You must have had a really stressful day. I hope John gets seen to efficiently and put together again well and I wish you both a speedy recovery from this day.
@happypat Thank you Pat for your good wishes! All the good thoughts from everyone are so encouraging and supportive. I do feel stronger from getting them all. He is in Dunedin.
We were about to go on a big trip to Australia next Tuesday so that's all cancelled now! (sad face)!
@maggiemae Oh no maggie....that is a disappointment but you can just postpone it hopefully. Hope John is feeling a bit better today, sore but not as shocked! Xxxxxx
Hope your husband has a rapid recovery. Mine had a “ladder incident” 2 years ago. I ran outside and he was mad that the drill he was holding was broken in the fall; never mind the fingers he broke! :). Take care of yourself and hope things improve soon.
@maggiemae Bloomin' heck, you don't need to be on one leg too MM. My orthopaedic surgeon is very definite about ladders, he says people over 55 should NOT climb ladders!!! Too many of those who do finish up in his rooms.
Oh dear- that sounds traumatic! But it sounds like you have weathered the storm and are now mending- John from his stitches and you from the nerves. I totally agree with #2 although I was in too much pain to enjoy my ride in one.
Oh no I have just caught up with this Maggie! What a shock for you both and so scary! Sending big loving hugs from me! Hope John will have a quick recovery! Remember to look after yourself too! Xxx
So sorry to hear about John and his accident. I hope that you are hanging in there and have a someone to help you. Never nice to have a loved one injured and needing to be in hospital.
Oh Maggiemae! As I am not visiting every day I had no idea about this! how dreadful! I realize my comment about your stormy sky seems so insensitive now in light of John's injury! So glad to hear he is better and please forgive me
@grammyn There is nothing to forgive, Katy but thank you for your kind comment! I'm filling him up with natural Vitamin C in kiwifruit and tamarillos and oranges!
Get well soon John
