A very small store in the Historic part of town called the Larder, sells food made way out of town in the Riverstone Kitchen - famous restaurant with a castle on site. The menu changes daily and you message for a meal. Today was roast chicken on Foccacia with Harris and fresh salad. I googled Harissa: Harissa is a North African hot chili pepper paste, the main ingredients of which are roasted red peppers, Baklouti peppers or serrano peppers, spices and herbs such as garlic paste, caraway seeds, coriander seeds, cumin and olive oil to carry the oil-soluble flavors. No wonder it was utterly delicious! This cost $15NZ and was enough for both of us.
Thankful for:
Planted a cherry tomato plant today and so far I have checked on it several times. It hasn't grown but it hasn't died!
Yum - @julzmaioro and I were holidaying in the South Island a few years ago. We had decided to have lunch at Riverstone, as I had been there and had talked it up. We arrived only to find that it was closed...
I just bought a jar of harissa for a recipe I plan to try soon. (You know how everyone is trying new recipes during the pandemic!) I had to ask the store employee to locate it for me and it took him awhile too.
I like a bit of harissa...very tasty addition to foods like these...Harry does not like it as you would expect! What a treat to be able to order this lovely lunch!
Annie!
Good luck with those tomatoes!
Now I am hungry
