These pies were from a specialist bakery and they are mutton and vegetable. Normally people don't use the word mutton as it signifies old but in actual fact it is not lamb but older and has much more flavour.

You love your pies in NZ....so much variety too, pastry gives me heartburn sadly. Mutton ...nothing wrong with mutton but you never ever hear it used these days.
