We purchased a takeaway coffee at a tiny caravan in the back streets and drove to the Oamaru Wharf. The wharf has been renovated beautifully with timber well screwed down. I was able to walk to the end and get this photo looking at the Breakwater opposite. There were black blobs which I wondered might be seals but my zoom identified them as Otago’s only endemic seabird, the Otago shag.
Thankful for:
John wanted to clean the guttering at the entrance to our garage. It proved to be a huge challenge but a good way to have exercise.
what lovely sky and sea green colours. I would prefer walking along the peer to get a photo for my exercise as opposed to clearing the guttering any day!
@helenhall It seems to be the thing to do nowadays - walk along the town's wharf or pier. They have almost finished replacing some of the rotten boards.
@yaorenliu an interesting question, Yao....."The Otago shag, together with the Foveaux shag formerly known as the Stewart Island shag and in its dark phase as the bronze shag, is a species of shag now found only in coastal Otago, New Zealand"
This is a great photo.
